Now a days Pressure transmitters are very essential parts of almost all large equipment used in Pakistan. Machines, Oil and Subsea, cranes, gas applications, dump trucks, bulldozers, earth movers, drilling machines, and in test and measurement all use electronic pressure transmitters as highly reliable sensors for their operating and safety systems.
A best quality hydraulics pressure transmitter or sensor used as intended will typically last for years, but the use of a low quality pressure transmitter or a transmitter not designed for an application often results in before time failure. Equipment failure is expensive not only in Pakistan but everywhere. The main economic consequence of equipment failure is not repairing or replacing the equipment but the downtime related to the equipment failure. In some cases operational downtime in mining or construction industries can mean thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars an hour.
Please try to understand the fact that not all pressure transmitters are made the same. Pressure transmitters for use in climate-controlled, low-vibration environments do not have to be designed to resist vibration, temperature change, or electrical interference like the specialized pressure transmitters used in mobile hydraulic applications must be.
Misapplication: In our experience, in Pakistan most common reason of pressure transmitter failure is using the wrong kind of pressure transmitter for the job. Typical misapplications include such as using a general industrial pressure transmitter designed for stationary use but it used in an earthmover, for example, or using a level transmitter for tank that is not compatible with the media or the content of the tank.
Shock and Vibration: Constant vibration and frequent jerk shocks will in the end degrade any device, and pressure transmitters are no exception.
Pressure Spikes: In many hydraulic applications pressure spikes are common. During the operation of hydraulic equipment such as cranes and bulldozers, valves have to be opened and closed frequently and this creates frequent pressure spikes that beat and hammer pressure sensors.
Temperature: Extreme temperatures also certainly degrade electronic devices. Given that mobile hydraulic devices are often used in geographical areas with temperature extremes, the pressure transmitters used in mobile hydraulic applications must be designed to be able to combat these rapid temperature changes.
Water Ingress: We all know, water is the mortal enemy of all electronic devices. Here pressure transmitters must be completely sealed that could possibly be exposed to water or other moisture. For this reason pressure transmitter you are going to use must be fully waterproof.
Electrical Interference: Another important reason of pressure transmitter malfunctioning is electromagnetic interference or radio frequency interference. It may cause signal instability or signal inaccuracy. There could be different reasons of electrical interference like it may be caused by nearby industrial equipment or power transformers or by a lightning strike in the locality. So pressure transmitters must have over voltage resistance.
Chemical Incompatibility: In agricultural machinery chemical incompatibility is a particular problem. Some of the fertilizers and pesticides sprayed from many agricultural machines unavoidably end up inside the engine of the sprayer or combine and they can eventually degrade the function of the pressure transmitter. The only empirical solution to this problem is to make sure that your pressure sensors are constructed from materials resistant to those particular chemicals.
Pakistan Controls and Industrial Automation (PAKCIA) stocks a wide range of electronic pressure transmitters specifically designed for use in oil and gas sector, research and development, construction, mining and agricultural industry mobile hydraulics applications. The pressure sensors brands include WIKA, Labom Germany, IFM, Hydac, Danfoss, Huba Controls, BD Sensor, VEGA, Emerson, Endress+Hauser, Yokogawa and some of the Chinese brands as well.
Price of pressure transmitter or pressure sensor depends upon different parameters but just for giving you an idea a normal pressure transmitter with 4-20mA output may cost you from PKR.18000 to PKR.45000 and even more. You can find here the price of 100 Bar Pressure Transmitter with 4-20mA output, made in China (Leeg). Similarly you can find the price of 100 Bar Pressure Transmitter with 4-20mA output, made in Switzerland (Huba Controls) here.
